Sean P Diddy Combs - What it takes to succeed

Want to know what it really takes to succeed?

Then read on and let multimillionaire mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs tell you the reality of what it takes to be a success.

Sean “Diddy” Combs could be the poster boy of living the American dream. After highly successful ventures into music, entertainment, fashion, fragrances, fine spirits among many other successful business ventures he reveals the truth about what it takes to succeed.

And guess what it is?

Focus, Long Hours and Work!

There is no overnight success

We’ve often been sold the idea of overnight success either intentionally or unintentionally through media, movies and marketing. The idea that one can achieve so much literally overnight is exciting, its inspiring and its sexy, it may get you into action but you’ll quickly find out that its not the truth.

We live in an instant gratification society and we want it all now but there is no such reality where you will get something for nothing.

If you look at any person deemed successful by most of society today you may see their extravagant homes, exotic cars, fancy clothes and their luxurious lifestyle but you can bet they have put in the focused hours of work to get where they are. Those bits never really get that much coverage.

Billionaire Mark Cuban also reinforces this point with a great quote:

“There are no short cuts. You have to work hard, and try to put yourself in a position where if luck strikes, you can see the opportunity and take advantage of it. I would also say its hard not to fool yourself. Everyone tells you how they are going to be special, but few do the work to get there.”

Success doesn’t have to be hard work

Yes, there is a glimmer of hope.

Now don’t get me wrong success does take time and effort but it doesn’t have to be “hard work”.

From my experience a lot of successful actually love what they do and they don’t see it as work.

It was a hard concept for me to grasp at first but as New York Times bestseller and author of The 10X Rule Grant Cardone says:

“most people don’t work long enough to see the real fruits of their labour”

For those who do follow through all the way their “work” is actually one of their biggest sources of pleasure in life, hence they love what they do.

If you’re reading this and the thought of focus, long hours and work scares you or makes you feel uneasy then it just means your desire is not yet strong enough. The reward is not big enough. The work feels like work because your perception of the end reward is just not juicy enough.

Then there are those who will say “I’m not afraid of hard work…” and these are the people with such strong desires that they will be prepared to run through brick walls and every obstacle thrown at them.

They’ll put in as many hours as it takes to achieve what they want because they have such a burning desire.

The reality is you don’t actually have to put in the long hours and effort forever.

Once you achieve a little bit of success you can then start leveraging your resources, outsourcing, delegating and so forth.

You’ll find you’ll have more freedom and can really enjoy the fruits of you labour.
